Larry D. Sneed is a seasoned health and elder care executive with over 20 years’ experience in clinical practice, healthcare operations, health and elder law, regulatory, and administrative affairs. Combining both clinical training and expertise with his legal background, Larry has worked with over 250 acute care, mental health, and rehabilitation hospitals, long term care facilities, home care and hospice agencies, physician practices, clinics, and other healthcare related businesses and professionals in 36 states nationally. Larry is a graduate and former faculty member of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing where he received the Masters of Science in Nursing (with honors). He is a licensed Registered Nurse Practitioner with clinical expertise in the areas of Behavioral Medicine and Neuroscience. Larry is a published author and continues to serve as an invited editor and referee for a number of healthcare related journals and publications. He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Honor Society for Nursing Scholarship, and is an active guest speaker and lecturer for universities and healthcare organizations around the country. As a special interest, Larry has served as a consultant to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and to a number of state departments of correction on healthcare related matters and has developed programs and clinical protocols for the management of mentally ill offenders and evaluation for competency to stand trial and insanity defenses. In addition to his clinical work, Larry is also a licensed attorney practicing in the areas of health law, policy, and regulatory affairs. He is a graduate of the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University where he was named an Abraham Caruthers Fellow in Legal Research and received recognition for Distinguished Achievement in Legal Writing. Larry is an active member of the American Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, and the American Society of Law, Medicine, and Ethics. Larry serves as counsel to hospitals and related ambulatory care centers, long term care facilities, physician practices and related healthcare organizations in the areas of business and clinical program development with particular emphasis in transactional matters relating to medical staff and physician relations, recruitment and succession planning including joint ventures, employment, physician relocation and clinical services arrangements. Larry is a frequent speaker and consultant on matters relating to Stark and Anti-Kickback regulations. In the private sector, Larry maintains an active legal and clinical consulting practice in the areas of Medicare and Medicaid law, disability, and elder care. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a fully accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Larry is a frequent speaker on topics of life care planning, estates, and trust administration. Larry has served as an ethics advisor to hospice and long term facilities and provides counseling to families dealing with end of life care concerns, catastrophic illness and injury, as well as services to parents and families with special needs children and adults.
